Secondary Program

 

Special Education offerings include:

Study Skills - students with disabilities are enrolled in general education content area classes required for graduation.  Study Skills is an elective course which offers tutorial assistance with class requirements in academic courses and specially designed instruction in the use of effective study skills.

Consultation with General Education Teacher - Special Education staff provide consultative services to teachers with students with disabilities in general education classes.

Resource Room/Learning Center - students spend a portion of the school day receiving intensive specially designed instruction in basic skills (reading, math, language). in order to help them gain access to the general education curriculum.  Students may also be enrolled in Special Education content area classes in which the curriculum is being presented at the student’s instructional level.  

Inclusion Program - students receive specially designed instruction while in a general education classroom. This may be provided by:

Other Special Education Services - either direct or consultative services that are provided by District Psychologists, Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational/Physical Therapists, Vision Specialists, Audiologists, and other  service providers.

District Level Self Contained Program -  Students spend all of their day receiving specially designed instruction in a smaller group setting with similar peers.
